Do you have a Discord server?

We do! You can get access by directly supporting Play Your Games at the Silver tier membership option (or higher). Gold and Platinum tier supporters will even get a special Discord role to make them stand out within the community.

What will you do with funds raised through subscriptions?

Funds will go towards covering running costs of PYG, including costs around our Ghost CMS plan that runs the site, web hosting, and professional emails. The team behind PYG currently runs this site unpaid, but we hope with time to pull a small salary and to be able to financially reimburse contributors for their time.

Will content be put behind a paywall?

No, that's not our intention. The financial accessibility of video games and games journalism, especially during a cost of living crisis, is something we're very passionate about and sensitive to. Our subscription and membership tiers are designed to give a value add to our most engaged community members, without ring fencing content away from those who aren't in a position to support us.

Not in the same way most other games media sites do, no. Our core mission is to explore the impact of video games and what they mean to us. If a recently released game or something in the current newscycle speaks to that in some way, then we will cover it with our own original take. We won't be engaging in traditional game reviews or chasing trending topics.

Are you open to specific freelance pitches?

We're not currently in a position to pay an acceptable rate for freelance writers who have one-off features in mind, however, we are open to volunteer contributors that are looking to work with us on an ongoing basis. We're also looking for stories from in and around games that fit our specific PYG brief.

How do you feel about Web3, Blockchain, and Gen AI?
