What is PYG?
We're exploring and spotlighting the positive stories in and around games.
For the longest time, I've been obsessed with video games and their innate ability to bring people together. From playdates with international internet friends to providing two strangers with a shared topic of conversation, video games are a social vehicle we use to tell stories and connect with each other.
Games are more mainstream now than they've ever been, but "gamer" is still seen as a little bit of a dirty word thanks to an increase in toxic online anonymity, fuelled by the difficult social climate we're all living through. Too often, both traditional press and games media are quick to platform negativity. It's not a reflection of who we are as a collective. That's not us.
Play Your Games will be highlighting how video games can often be a force for good. Exploring the positive power of games and gamers. From personal stories of how video games have impacted your life, to those working to make video games accessible to all.
PYG is a community-powered project. We want to platform your stories and experiences, just as much as we want to champion our own, so be sure to add your voice to the conversation.
At PYG, we don't just want to spotlight the good work happening in and around games; we want to be an active part of it. That's why 50% of funds raised through subscriptions to PYG will go back into the industry via partnered charities (such as Safe in Our World, Into Games, SpecialEffect, Games Aid, and more).
